Experiments on the Effect of Atomic Electrons on the Decay Constant ofBe7. II

A comparison of the decay constants of ${\mathrm{Be}}^7$ in beryllium oxide and in beryllium fluoride has given $\lambda \left(\mathrm{BeO}\right)-\lambda \left(\mathrm{Be}{\mathrm{F}}_2\right)=(+1.375\mathrm{}\pm 0.053){10}^{-3\mathrm{}}\lambda \left(\mathrm{BeO}\right)$ thus showing a definite effect of the chemical binding on the radioactive decay constant.
