Death Due to a Pesticide

Abstract
THIS is believed to be the first report of a fatality due to a new carbamate pesticide.In the early evening of October 25, 1965, a 17-year-old Cuban boy was found at home by his relatives lying face down on his bed unconscious. Vomiting had occurred. Beside the bed was a 12-ounce soft-drink bottle containing about 4 ounces of a dark-brown, odorous liquid. Forty-five minutes before, he had been in perfect health.He was taken to the emergency room of Jackson Memorial Hospital. He remained comatose. He had bilateral pinpoint pupils and an irregular heartbeat. A film of the chest . . .
