Abstract
THIS is believed to be the first report of a fatality due to a new carbamate pesticide.In the early evening of October 25, 1965, a 17-year-old Cuban boy was found at home by his relatives lying face down on his bed unconscious. Vomiting had occurred. Beside the bed was a 12-ounce soft-drink bottle containing about 4 ounces of a dark-brown, odorous liquid. Forty-five minutes before, he had been in perfect health.He was taken to the emergency room of Jackson Memorial Hospital. He remained comatose.
