Abstract
The nucleon mass is computed in the skyrmion model. Starting with a parameter-free nonlinear chiral Lagrangean containing the effects of heavy mesons ( ρ,σ,ω), we find that the computed mass is a factor of 2 too large compared with the measured value. Keywords
