Interpersonal Openness and Communication Effectiveness.

Abstract
This study is an experimental investigation of interpersonal openness and communication effectiveness. The experimental design involves measurements of dyadic communication effectiveness before and after an interpersonal disclosure experience known as the Johari Window exercise. Measurements also were taken on a comparison group which had no disclosure experience. The results indicate a significant increase in rated communication effectiveness for the experimental group, but none for the comparison group. The implications of these findings are discussed in terms of management and organization development efforts aimed at increasing communication effectiveness.
