Abstract
The relation of the embryology, gross anatomy and histology of the salivary glands has been reviewed in relation to their sialographic appearances and to the radiographic technique; a certain reorientation of existing teaching emerges. The procedures evolved have been applied especially to the diagnosis of the obstructions and infections of the parotid, which are classified on a clinical and sialographic basis. The bacteriology appears to run fairly closely parallel with the other features, while the ætiology in the various groups is different. Keywords
