Abstract
Sveral populations were observed of a tube-dwelling Gyrosigma species that differed essentially from the current definition of Gyrosigma eximium (Thwaites) Boyer, the only Gyrosigma species generally reported to have this mode of life. Morphological investigations and examination of the type population of G. eximium showed the need for an amended definition of this species, clarified its range of variation and revealed new morphological features. Keywords
