Abstract
There was a highly significant difference in the fecundity of adult females of Busseola fusca Fuller [maize stalk borer] from nondlapauslng and dlapausing larvae. The former laid an average of 353 eggs per adult and the latter about 131. The degree of mortality in B. fusca is significantly higher in dlapausing larvae in felled malze stalks lying on the ground and exposed to the sun than in larvae in standing maize stalks. About 88.9% of the larvae collected in felled stalks were dead by Feb. whereas only 13.3% of the larvae collected in the standing stalks had died. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
