Abstract
We have discussed, from the viewpoint of imaginary Venutian scientists, possible interpretations of gravity in terms of known fields. We assume that these scientists know the general properties of field theories; they are now searching for a field having the characteristics of gravity. In order to make distinctions between various possibilities, we shall need to recall the following properties of gravity; that large masses attract with a force proportional to the inertia, and to the inverse square of the distance; also that the mass and inertia represent the energy content, since the binding energies of atoms and nuclei have a gravitational behavior identical to the rest energies.
