Abstract
Tape recordings of sounds of greater prairie chickens (Tympanuchus cupido pinnatus) on a booming ground in northeastern Kansas were used in later trapping efforts in the same general region during spring and fall booming periods. The playback of recorded vocalizations substantially increased success of trapping by extending the trapping periods, influencing bird movements on booming grounds, and decreasing the length of time birds remained off the grounds after being disturbed. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
