Abstract

The reaction of VOCl₂ with NH₄HCO₃ under CO₂ afforded the title complex, shown by X-ray crystallography to contain a crown-shaped hexanuclear oxovanadium(IV) anion featuring bridging hydroxo and carbonato groups; the aggregate lies at a site of symmetry m and has approximate 3m symmetry, with one carbonato group functioning in a novel µ₆ mode.
