Abstract
Summary: Ferritin-labeled rabbit anti-human γ globulin (FE-RAHγG) and anti-C′3 (FE-RAHC′3) were assayed by means of a chromic chloride hemagglutination technique. These reagents were used in an electron microscopic study of localization of various erythrocyte antigenic sites, e.g., Rh isoantigens and the antigens presumably associated with idiopathic and drug-induced antibody hemolytic anemias. Qualitative and quantitative differences in the periodicity and intensity of label have been observed. These findings suggest that discrete sites are involved in a non-random binding of exogenous antigens to erythrocytes; these may be related to specific but yet unknown biochemical determinants. Keywords
