Abstract
In January 1989 one of the authors interviewed Andrew Turner, Director of the Grant Maintained Schools Trust. The full text of the interview is published in this article. An introductory section places the interview in the context of the growing influence of the New Right on Conservative policy in education. In particular, the views of Turner are seen as supportive of trends towards privatization, the enterprise culture and the restructuring of the education system. Keywords
