Abstract
Fordhook 242 lima bean seed treated with various insecticides at 1/4 and 1/2 oz. and thiram at 1 oz. per bu. was tested in the field for the control of the seed-corn maggot, Hylemya cilicrura. Lindane and dieldrin still perform well but many plants were deformed. Diazinon, dimethoate and NIA 10,242 (2,3-dihydro-2,2-dimethyl-7-benzofuramyl methylcarba-mate) gave better control at the 1/2-oz. per bu. dosage without showing adverse phytotoxicity. SD-9129 (dimethyl phosphate ester with 3-hydroxy-N-methyl-cis-crotonamide), TPTH (triphenyl tin hydroxide) and DiSyston (O,O-diethyl S-[2-(ethylthio) ethyl] phosphorodithioate) did not provide satisfactory protection to the seed and TPTH was phytotoxic at the dosages tested. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
