Abstract
The oxygen uptake of intact red cells was studied by Warburg''s technique in the presence of methylene blue in 30 cases of anemia of different origin and in 25 non-anemic subjects. A definite increase in the oxygen uptake was found in anemia. There did not appear to be any correlation between the reticulocyte number and the oxygen consumption of red cells. The results are briefly discussed. Keywords
