Abstract
The decay route of the methyl vibrations in ethanol excited by stimulated Raman scattering is shown to be a splitting into daughter vibrations of half the frequency. Measurements of the growth and the decay of these daughter vibrations are reported for the first time using picosecond probe techniques. Keywords
