Acousto-Optic Accessing in Optical Disks

Abstract
An acousto-optic deflector has been used as a fine actuator to improve the ability to pull in a track. Combining this A/O system with split optics which make it possible to get high acceleration, we have achieved an access time without latency of 14 ms in a 12'' optical disk system.
