Abstract
The kinetics of the electrodeposition of ruthenium on vitreous carbon and the accompanying hydrogen evolution reaction has been investigated. Two mechanisms are proposed for the electro-crystallization of growth centres of ruthenium; the catalytic hydrogen evolution is shown to depend on the size of the catalyst centres and mechanisms for this reaction are also suggested. Keywords
