Abstract
Studies carried out in human infants revealed that the substitution of carbohydrate for fat in the diet resulted in a diminished output of thiamine in the urine. This is interpreted as indicating an increased demand for thiamine in metabolic reactions. The increased thiamine intake required by such a dietary shift has been measured. Keywords
