Abstract
Housing for older people must embody consideration of the social needs of its occupants if it is to be satisfactory. However, the social needs and resulting housing requirements of the older population vary widely according to background and living habits. Two studies in which the life patterns of contrasting groups of older people were related to their housing needs point up the variations and suggest a possible method for determining the housing requirements of any specific group of older people.
