Abstract
The dynamics of the anisotropic correlations in two-component supercooled liquids and glasses is examined using molecular dynamics. The correlation functions describing the local anisotropy are found to decay very slowly as the temperature is lowered. It is shown that the slow decay of these functions also results in long temporal correlations in the velocity autocorrelation functions. The implications of this study for the dynamical theories of the glass transition are outlined. Keywords
