Electromagnetic Mass Differences of Lowest Lying Hadrons and Behavior of Quarks in Hadrons

Abstract
Electromagnetic mass differences of lowest lying hadrons are investigated in the quark model with Gaussian wave functions. The Fermi-Breit interactions for one photon exchange and one gluon exchange terms are calculated. To fit the electromagnetic differences of baryons (N, Σ, Ξ) and mesons (π, K) with the common quark mass difference md-mu, we must introduce different relative distances between quarks in a baryon due to spin-spin interactions. This produces the negative charge radius of neutron. The electromagnetic mass difference of the charmed meson D+-D0 is predicted to be 4.8MeV in good agreement with experiments.
