Abstract
The gross theory of nuclear β-decay is improved in two respects: One is the inclusion of the effect of pairing UV factors, and the other is the observance of the non-energy-weighted sum rule for the Fermi transiton. Improved formulas are given for the strength function, and the effect of this improvement on β-decay half-lives is discussed.Keywords
