Abstract
Activity of muramidase towards glycol chitin was reversibly activated by heating at 50[degree]C (optimal temp.) pH 5.5 for 4 hours. At higher temp. (70[degree]C) the enzyme was more strongly activated, but it returned to the untreated activity level more rapidly. The other favorable conditions for the activation were an enzyme conentration of 0.5-1% and ionic strength of 0.1-0.15. Heat-treated enzyme showed no change in the physical properties after storing in the cold. Keywords
