Abstract
The problem of predicting pressures and flow rates for extruders with geometrical parameters arbitrarily variable along the axis is considered for isothermal, Newtonian conditions. A graphical method is applied to an actual case of a truncated, cone-shaped extruder. Experimental results are reported. The same general procedure, but with further simplified formulas, is applied subsequently to cases of extruders having diameter, pitch, and thread depth linearly variable along the axis. Keywords
