Abstract
An undescribed ascomycete and its imperfect stage, associated with a twig and branch blight of balsam fir, Abies balsamea (L.) Mill., was investigated. Both stages were described and the fungus named Potebniamyces balsamicola sp. nov. Relationship between the two stages was established by cultural studies. Potebniamyces is the new name proposed to replace the preoccupied generic name Phacidiella Potebn. Keywords
