Prostatic Carcinoma in Young Adults

Abstract
WITHIN the past few decades, few cases of malignant tumor of the prostate gland in young adults have been diagnosed and reported. A review of the medical literature shows reported cases of various types of sarcomas of the prostate in children and adolescents,1 but prostatic carcinomas are extremely rare.2-4 The first case of carcinoma of the prostate gland in early childhood ever described was published in the American Journal of Clinical Pathology in 1959, and four more cases have subsequently been reported. Four cases of prostatic carcinoma in adolescents have been reported since 1912. None of them had roentgenographic findings like those in the case of a 20-year-old man with pathologically confirmed (by the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology) carcinoma of the prostate.
