Abstract
A technique has recently been developed for the internal measurement of longitudinal and shear particle velocity histories in an inclined‐plate impact experiment. Measurements must be made in two experiments having identical impact conditions in order to uniquely determine both quantities. A modification to the technique is suggested which will allow both to be uniquely determined in a single experiment, thus avoiding the complication of having to exactly reproduce the impact configuration.
