Abstract
The influence of hydrostatic stress on the phosphorescence decay of thallium activated sodium iodide is shown to be very marked. Pressures as low as 100 kilograms per square centimeter produce readily observable effects. Interpretation in terms of pressure-increased effective trap depth is given. Keywords
