Abstract
A summary of a survey conducted on laboratory friction and wear devices is presented. This survey was made by the Subcommittee on Wear of the Lubrication Fundamentals Committee. The survey covered the literature from 1945 to 1965 and uncovered 102 devices using simulative test specimens. The summary presented in this paper includes the original scope of the survey, a summary of the results including characteristics of the 102 devices, and the conclusions drawn by the subcommittee.Keywords
