Abstract
In certain diabetic individuals with advanced diabetic neuropathy, peculiar lytic changes take place in the joints, particularly of the feet. There is marked bone destruction without bone regeneration. The circulation of the involved foot remains good and there is absence of any sign of gangrene or cellulitis. There is also a remarkable freedom from pain. The changes are entirely comparable to those in syphilis of the central nervous system and syringomyelia. Keywords
