Abstract
The reproductive cycle of captive parthenogenetic lizards C. uniparens was analyzed for the duration of their lives. In .apprx. 80% of the animals, the cycle, consisting of a short reproductive period followed by a long non-reproductive period, persisted indefinitely. In the absence of environmental cues the cycle was reduced to 5 mo., expressing itself more than twice as fast as in nature. Like the reproductive rhythm, the number of clutches laid per individual remained relatively constant, suggesting endogenous regulation of clutch number. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
