Abstract
A preliminary account is presented of the first detailed archaeological reconnaissance of the Machili Valley in south-western Zambia. A provisional sequence for the local Early Iron Age is proposed and is compared with that already known from adjacent regions to the north and east. The place of the Situmpa site in this sequence is discussed. Keywords
