Abstract
Due to the recent upsurge in self-inflicted tattoos in teenagers the method of salabrasion, i.e., abrasion with table salt, was employed for their removal. This technique was recently used for the removal of commercial tattoos. Patients (14) with 28 tattoos were treated: 10 tattoos showed a good response, complete removal of the tattoo or only tiny flecks of pigment remaining visible; 11 showed a fair response, the tattoo although much lighter in color was still legible but the patient was satisfied with the result; 3 showed a poor response, the tattoo appeared as if untreated; 4 (2 patients) defaulted. The darker the tattoo the more difficult was its removal and those on fingers were particularly resistant. This publication has 11 references indexed in Scilit:
