Abstract
Antibody [Ab] response was rapid and high in broiler breeder chickens receiving 1 or 2 oil-emulsion vaccinations against Newcastle disease at 23 or at 23 and 26 wk old. The Ab titers remained high during the 41-wk experimental period. At 64 wk old, about 41 wk after vaccination, the geometric mean hemagglutination-inhibition Ab titer was 67 from the single vaccination and 103 from the double vaccination. Immune response to live virus vaccine given at 2, 9, 20, 30, 42 or 54 wk of age via the drinking water was high, but uniformity was lacking in the Ab response in the breeders and maternal Ab response in the progeny. Maternal Ab levels in 1 day old chicks were related to Ab titers in the dams. Maternal Ab titers of chicks originating from breeder flocks vaccinated with the oil-emulsion vaccine remained high for all hatches. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
