Photochemical Synthesis of Macrocycles

Abstract
Photochemical methods are described by which macrocyclic ring systems can be synthesized. Ring transformations, cyclization and substitution reactions which are initiated by homolytic cleavage or by electron transfer steps are highly valuable for the design and generation of complex medium- and large-ring molecules.
