Abstract
A new circuit for the generation of ultra-short-wave electronic oscillations is described. This circuit consists of two tubes connected by symmetrical plate and filament Lecher systems instead of the usual plate-grid arrangement. The wavelength of the oscillations is determined by the length of the plate Lecher circuit. The tuning of the filament Lecher system governs the amplitude of the oscillations. It has been found that the same wavelength can be obtained even though the grid voltage is varied over a wide range of values. The radio-frequency output from this oscillator circuit is at least 5 watts, as actually determined by photometric measurements using a lamp in an absorption antenna. This is the largest output with electronic oscillators which has so far been reported. Certain experimental details which are important in the operation of this circuit are outlined. Keywords
