Abstract
The unusual combination of severe diabetes and myxedema observed simultaneously in a 64-year old female led to an inquiry into the mechanisms underlying the disturbed thyroid function. ACTH, FSH, steroidal hormone excretion rates and eosinophil responses to ACTH were normal. The thyroidal I uptake and thyroidal I clearances were negligible on 3 occasions. The subsequent admn. of TSH (Armour''s) resulted in a marked increase in I131 uptake by the thyroid and a high thyroidal I clearance and conversion ratio. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
