Abstract
Transmitting lateral boundary conditions are derived for application to unidirectional wave trains in the parabolic equation method. A form of the condition is derived which is numerically exact for situations where Snell's law holds, and solutions for shoaling and refraction preserve the exact solution of the governing equation. Keywords
