SYNOVIAL CYSTS IN JUVENILE RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS

Abstract
Synovial cysts may occur in association with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. Two such patients are reported. The mechanism of formation of such cysts is probably similar, if not identical, to the synovial cyst formation in adult rheumatoid arthritis. Steroid therapy probably has some role in the development of these cysts. The etiology of popliteal cysts in healthy children is briefly reviewed.
