Abstract
We discuss the electronic structure of the first four members of the high-
T
c
superconductor family
Tl
2
Ba
2
Ca
L
−
1
Cu
L
O
4
+
2
L
, where
L
is the number of Cu
O
2
layers. Using a simplified BCS-type model, we relate
T
c
to
L
using the partial density of states of the Cu
O
2
layers as the physical link. According to our model, the pure phase of
Tl
2
Ba
2
Ca
3
Cu
4
O
12
(
L
=
4
) would have a value of
T
c
in the range 135 to 165 K.
