Abstract
The Esprit I project ALF has developed an approach to software process modeling that is based on the model for assisted software processes (MASP) concept and on building ALF-based integrated programming support environments (IPSEs). The key aspects of the MASP concept are discussed together with the properties of ALF-based IPSEs. It is shown how ALF-based IPSEs provide control, system initiative, and assistance to all users and support cooperation between these different roles. Keywords
