Abstract
Pyruvic acid was isolated by fixation with sulphite in the fermentation of glucose by Propionibacterium arabinosum. Acetaldehyde was not detected. The scheme proposed by van Niel for the intermediate breakdown of pyruvic acid is substantiated. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
