Abstract
A fixed length of the petiole of Nymphoides peltata was subjected to a variety of temperature treatments. A Q10 is calculated for the velocity of flow, from the mass transport rate of 137Cs in the phloem at temperatures between 0 and 50°C. Associated with lowered temperatures there was a temporary interruption of transport overriding the longer term temperature dependence. The characteristics of the interruption were dependent upon the size of the temperature drop and the magnitude of the ‘new’ temperature.
