IgG and IgG Subclasses in Human Periodontosis (Juvenile Periodontitis): Serum Concentrations

Abstract
Serum immunoglobulin (Ig) concentrations of IgG and the IgG subclasses (IgGl, IgG2, IgG3, IgG4) in periodontosis (juvenile periodontitis) patients were examined and compared to those of normal nondiseased patients. Ig titers were determined by radial immunodiffusion. The mean serum concentration of IgG, although within the normal range, was significantly greater (P < 0.01) in periodontosis patients compared to nondiseased patients. In contrast, there were no significant differences in serum IgG subclass levels between groups.
