Comparison of two methods for time delay estimation of sinusoids

Abstract
This note concerns the time delay estimation of a sinusoid in the absence of noise. It is shown that the smoothed coherence transform (SCOT) method performs much better than the standard cross-correlation (SCC) method, in that the former greatly reduces the ambiguity in determining the peak of the related cross-correlation function.
