Abstract
The LINPOR process is a convenient method for upgrading activated sludge plants without enlargement of tankage. By filling up 15-30% of the aeration volume with highly porous plastic foam particles, which serve as a carrier for the active biomass, the total MLSS concentration is increased and the F/M ratio is lowered. Three examples of upgraded activated sludge plants are presented. Keywords
