Abstract
To the Editor: Allain et al. (Oct. 29 issue)1 found that human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) antigen and anti-HIV core are valuable serum markers in predicting deterioration of the clinical condition of seropositive HIV-infected persons. Their study and those of many others2 3 4 5 6 7 8 have shown that a decline in anti-p24 antibodies and the onset of persistent HIV antigenemia are correlated with a poor clinical prognosis. To establish whether these HIV markers are valuable diagnostic tools, we tested sequential serum samples obtained from 15 male homosexuals at intervals of one to three months after the occurrence of seroconversion. We also studied the prevalence . . .Keywords
