Abstract
The relation that optic neuritis (ON) bears to multiple sclerosis (MS) remains controversial. Approximately 40 per cent of patients with MS manifest ON at some point during their illness, and epidemiologic studies have shown that ON and MS patients share features that distinguish them from a peer control group.
