A Revision of the Coastal Water Genus Gladioferens (Copepoda: Calanoida)

Abstract
The genus, which now contains five species, is redefined so as to include a new subgenus. The number of previously described species is reduced from seven to four by synonymy. A new subgenus and species G. (Protogladioferens) symmetricus is described. A key to subgenera and species is given for both male and female specimens. All species are figured and described. General aspects of the ecology and distribution of the species are discussed.
