The Effect of Cytokinins on Vitrification in Melon and Carnation

Abstract
The influence of exogenous cytokinin on vitrification of melon and carnation buds grown in vitro was assessed. In melon, the anatomical traits of vitrification were found to be similar to those previously described for carnation grown on a high concentration of auxin. In carnation, the plantlets treated with high cytokinin concentrations became bushy but the anatomical structure remained normal. The relation of cytokinin and vitrification is discussed.
